When I was a kid hanging out with my father and he overheard someone voice a cliche’ remark such as, “There’s nothing to fear! I know what I’m doing,” he’d utter his own cliche’ phrase and say, “Famous last words,” and then smile at me with one eyebrow raised.
I never really understood what he meant until much later when I was an adult and had developed the ability to think critically, utilizing logic, reasoning, and rational thinking.
I didn’t understand what “famous last words,” meant.
I didn’t see anything wrong with those alleged cliche‘ statements.
He often used those same statements himself as he taught me about life.
I was receptive and open to his suggestions, which ultimately helped create my life script, and my beliefs.
